Chichester gets faster broadband, on hybrid wireless and fibre service by Blaze, this Christmas

BROADBAND SUPPLIER 25.14

It’s a happy Christmas to Chichester in West Sussex, as it gets access to superfast broadband, thanks to a new ISP named Blaze Wireless. Blaze announced that they have installed their hybrid broadband network which has fibre-optic and wireless devices to cover central Chichester.

They claim it has ‘carrier grade’ capability and delivers speeds of up to 300Mbps, with potential of 1Gbps, to the areas. Blaze’s base-stations too can supply at speeds of up to 300Mbps, but is given based on the package chosen by customers.

This cathedral city of South East England, Chichester, can now enjoy high performing connectivity to areas where Blaze claims BT broadband is slow and unreliable, and into areas that are isolated, for remote places or rural communities. The service is available to both private individuals as well as business customers.

Hybrid Wireless and Fibre Optic Broadband Service Arrives in Chichester

A new ISP called BLAZE Wireless has today announced the launch of their hybrid fibre optic and wireless broadband network to cover central Chichester in West Sussex (South-East England), which is available to both private individuals (local residents) and business customers.

The ISP claims to have installed a new “carrier grade” dedicated fibre optic cable in Central Chichester, which is said to be capable of delivering speeds up to 300Mbps and has a potential capacity of 1000Mbps (1Gbps). At the same time the providers Blaze wireless base stations, which are apparently “never more than 25 miles away“, can supply up to 300Mbps speeds depending on the package choice. The aim of all this is to bring high performing Internet to the Chichester area, “including places where BT broadband is slow and unreliable, isolated homes and businesses, remote locations and rural communities in West Sussex“.

Henry Brown, Blaze Wireless Director and Founder, told ISPreview.co.uk: “Our wireless broadcasting equipment extends this fibre-optic line ‘wirelessly’ by transmitting it over a selected area, just like a television signal. To receive wireless fibre-optic broadband you need to install a small receiving aerial, about the size of a paperback book, at your premises or home. Aerials can be installed in a matter of days, once installed you can simply connect your computer, laptop, router or other devices to our wireless internet and enjoy high speed fibre-optic broadband. Blaze Wireless Internet access starts at a monthly cost of £29. There are no hidden fees, no line rental charge and no fixed term contracts so you can stop your subscription whenever you wish.”

Fixed wireless heading towards Arun Valley in West Sussex

THINKBROADBAND.COM -Those people in places like West Chiltington and Amberley may if Blaze Wireless can get its network built quickly will soon have access to up to 50 Mbps or up to 100 Mbps fixed wireless services. Blaze intends to light up parts of the Arun Valley in West Sussex which already has some fixed wireless coverage and there are a good number of fibre cabinets appearing under the West Sussex BDUK project, though as the FTTC (and a small amount of FTTP) is not delivering superfast speeds to everyone there is the situation where providers like Blaze can step in and fill the gaps.

The Blaze website has a map showing expected coverage from masts where agreements in principle exist for locating their masts so it will be a case of keeping an eye on their website to see how things develop.

Pricing wise a one-off connection fee of £25 applies and for £29 per month you get 35GB of data at a nominal symmetric 15 Mbps, 110GB of data at 30 Mbps increases the price to £58 per month, but of course there is no requirement to retain copper voice line rental product. The DIY aerial package is around £80 or Blaze will fit this for around £65 and you are free to source your own router.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

College students are providing fibre-optic broadband where BT can’t Chichester, West Sussex – March 12, 2015

Young entrepreneurs and Chichester College students Henry and Jack Brown aged twenty and nineteen, are beating BT at their own game with a new fibre optic broadband service. The new internet service is provided wirelessly allowing the brothers to deliver super-fast broadband to rural areas and isolated communities not well served by BTs cable network.

Residential customers in Bosham where the service has been rolled out are delighted by the speed and reliability of the new service ‘we have never been able to get more than a trickle of Internet and BT don’t have any plans for improvement in our area’ says one local businessman. ‘The service these boys provide is really impressive, not only do we now get internet speeds in excess of 60Mbps but the system was installed in less than a week and we are not tied into a long contract like with BT’ And the new wireless fibre-optic service is not limited to rural areas, Seaward Homes, a property developer based in central Chichester has installed a dedicated wireless broadband line which is providing the company offices with Internet speeds six times faster than they were getting from BT.

BT Broadband is delivered by cable, often old existing telephone cables, and the length and standard of these cables has a massive impact on the quality of the service delivered. The brother’s new company ‘Blaze Wireless Ltd’ delivers Internet 'wirelessly' in the same way as the now familiar WiFi technology works. Without miles and miles of cable to erode the quality of the signal wireless emissions maintain their integrity all the way to the consumer’s installation, without loss of speed. Blaze Wireless seems set to take off quickly with considerable demand from both residential and commercial users who are struggling with a poor, unreliable Internet service.
